S.O.U.L. Kickboxing Newsletter September 2020.

Autumn is here S.O.U.L. family and with it we have indoor classes starting again!

After a very strange year that has affected everybody, we are starting to wake up again to that level of soreness that can only come from a session with Ma’am!

It was lovely to go back to Ferndown for the first time this Monday and the class at Sturminster Newton Boxing Gym (Wednesday evenings) is a real treat too. Anyone who has trained there before will be aware of the boxing equipment (punchbags and boxing rings) which are available to us. Although we are not sparring yet the punchbags are a fantastic workout and the level of intensity is as high as you want to make it!

Some of you may be familiar with Durweston Village Hall which is on the other side of Blandford. There have been several Summer/Winter presentations there and it is a lovely spacious area to train (Thursday nights). We were all very pleased to meet up there for the first-time last week…some of us have not seen each other for quite a while.

Providing we are working together in family pods we are able to use kick shields and hand equipment too so bring your bag gloves!

As we head into Autumn the top priority is to stay fit and healthy. There are numerous (and often confusing) legislations/safety advice for everyone to follow and Mrs Mayne is keeping a very close eye on how things are evolving.

All being well we will continue to train safely together in the warm and I am very much looking forward to the potential of a December grading!

Staying healthy when the children go back to school can always be a bit of a challenge. The pace of life has now increased back to normal levels which often means that we take less time for ourselves and spend more time running around to a tight schedule.

Kickboxing for me has always been that period of ‘no mind’ where the intensity of life completely disappears for an hour and I emerge tired but refreshed. There is nothing else that I have found that is so cleansing and balancing and this is great for the immune system too.

Ma’am is continuing to book spaces for classes via email, Facebook messenger and text so please let her know if you want to attend (or can’t) because the spaces are still limited to 20 per session.

Wishing you all a wonderful start to the new season and I will look forward to seeing you in class over the next few months!
